Microbiology is the study of microorganisms that are unicellular, multicellular or acellular. Immunology deals with the study of aspects of immune systems in all microorganisms. It is a branch of biomedical sciences. Microbiology and Immunology is an association with the Japanese Society for Bacteriology, the Japanese Society for Virology, and the Japanese Society for Host Defense Research. The immune system is divided into those which are static, or innate to the organism, and those which are responsive, or adaptive to a potential pathogen or foreign substance. The innate system of immunity is on evolutionary terms, the older system that forms the first line of defence.
