Synthesis and Anticonvulsant Activity of Oxadiazole Derivatives Incorporating Phthalazin-1,4 (2H, 3H)-dione Scaffolds

In this present work, we prepared the 2- (2-mercapto oxadiazole phthalazin (2H, 3H) -1,4-dione (1) and its salt (2) from 2-hydrazino
carbonylmethylphthalazine (2H, 3H) -dione which resulted from condensation of carbondisulfide and potassium hydroxide in ethanol. Also we
prepared 2- (2-mercapto oxadiazole-6,7 –dichloro phthalazin (2H, 3H) -1,4-dione (3) and its salt (4). The two salts (2) and (4) reacted with different
alkylchloroacetates to produce compounds (5 a-f) and (6 a-f) these compounds tested as anticonvulsant drugs, its revealed anticonvulsant activity
compared with phenobarbitone as refrence drug.

Ethiopian Rue (Ruta chalapensis L.) Genotypes Morphological and Biological Performance at Different Locations of Southern Ethiopia

Rue is an aromatic is evergreen plant used for multipurpose that used for traditional medicine and in Ethiopia mainly used flavoring coffee addition to its medicinal
benefit. There is limitation of knowledge, experience, modern scientific evidences and information on Ethiopian R. chalenpesnsis genotypes because the
experiment was undergone the aim to minimize the aforementioned gaps. The experiment was held for one year in 2019 up to 2020 G.C. at three different locations
using 10 (ten) selected promising superior genotypes from selected during characterization of accessions. Selected genotypes were tested using Randomized
Complete Block Design following the procedures of Gomez and Gomez in three replications. Rue genotypes were planted in six rows of 3-meter length on the
commencement of main rainy season using 60 cm between plant and row spacing. Data was collected from different traits such as; plant height, number of
branches/plants, fresh leaf weight/branch, fresh leaf weight/plant, leaf to stem ratio, leaf yield/ha, percent essential oil content and essential oil yield/ha. All tested
traits very significantly affected by locations and genotypes during this experiment. The phenology of the genotypes is highly affected by location different; rue
genotypes give more fruits early at high land and more leaves at low lands. Maximum leaf yield and leaf essential oil yield/ha was obtained at Arba Minch and
maximum fruit essential oil yield/ha at Wondo genet from genotypes 1and 5 respectively. Based on this experiment result high altitude agroecology is more suitable
for production and low altitude is for leaf production.

Determination of Optimum Spacing and Harvesting Age of Citron Scented Gum (Eucalyptus citriodora H.) for Maximum Biomass and Essential Oil Yield at Wondo Genet, South Ethiopia

The experiment was conducted at Wondo Genet south Ethiopia for three years. The study was aimed for determination of optimum plant spacing
and harvesting age on E. citriodora. The treatment consists of three levels of harvesting ages and four levels of plant spacing. The character that
manifested for data collection is: plant height, leaf weight/plant stem weight/plant leaf to stem ratio, leaf and stem yield/ha, essential oil content
and essential oil yield/ha were collected. The whole plant had been cut using sharp saw at 20 cm height above the ground and essential oil was
extracted from the leaf part. The results of the study revealed that harvesting age had very highly significant effect on plant height, fresh leaf to
stem ratio, essential oil content and essential oil yield/hectare. Spacing had a very high significant effect on fresh leaf yield/hectare and fresh
stem/hectare. The interaction effect of spacing and harvesting age had significant effect on essential oil content. The highest leaf weight/pant was
obtained with spacing of 1.5 m and 2 m between plants and raw respectively. Maximum fresh leaf yield/hectare was obtained with narrower spacing
(1.5 m between plant and row) and the highest essential oil yield/hectare was obtained when the plant harvested at 10 months after transplanting
but it was not significantly different with harvesting age at 9 months after transplanting. Based on the overall result use of plant spacing 1.5 × 2 m
and 9 to 10 MATS were recommended for citron scented for Wondo Genet and its vicinity.
